The challenge
Freelancers have to juggle their craft with the admin that comes with it, and Craft Financial set out to make that simpler. They teamed up with us at Milk Moon Studio from the naming stage, and the goal was clear: to build a digital platform that makes invoicing less of a chore, with a layer of financial security underneath.
Our approach
Our job with Craft was to build a site that fits what modern-day freelancers need and is easy to follow. The look is simple and modern with a bit of cleverness, in line with Craft's aim of making financial management easy.
The invoicing tool
The core of Craft’s platform is an invoicing tool that lets freelancers quote, invoice and get paid quickly. Our part was the Webflow site that explains it. The homepage and the How Craft works section walk through five steps: create quotes and invoice professionally, manage clients, track payments and cashflow, get paid, and qualify for free Craft Protect. We designed and built it in Webflow and kept the navigation simple, so each of those steps is easy to find.
Financial security
Craft also gives freelancers a layer of financial security. Online payment options on the invoice (through Stitch or SnapScan) are there to help freelancers get paid faster, and the more invoices they get paid through Craft, the more free Craft Protect cover they qualify for, a safety net in case an accident stops them working.
The blog, FAQs and About us pages
The site also has a blog for insights and tips for freelancers, plus FAQs and About us pages. The FAQs answer the common questions, and the About us page, headed "We are side hustlers, just like you.", tells the team's story in the same friendly tone as the rest of the site, in line with Craft's commitment to supporting freelancers.
The result
We delivered the Webflow site for Craft Financial: the homepage with its How Craft works section and FAQs, the About us page, the blog pages and the brand guidelines that go with them. We also helped with the naming and the messaging tests described above. We don't have figures from Craft to share, so we won't claim any. What we can say is what the site was built to do: explain the platform clearly and leave freelancers free to focus on their craft.
Craft is one of several fintech builds we have done, see Stitch Money, the payments provider whose Strapi site we migrated to Webflow and rebuilt with a flexible component framework. If you want the how-to side of the testing mentioned above, we have written about installing Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics in Webflow and about creating programmatic Webflow landing pages that target your competition.
